The Department of Public Works is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to replace the County’s existing access control systems with a modern, centralized, and open-architecture solution across more than 40 County locations. The County currently operates the P2000 access control system from Johnson Controls across the majority of its facilities, with one building utilizing a standalone system provided by Open Options. The selected firm for this equipment, services and installation contract will be responsible for the comprehensive delivery of the new system, including planning, procurement, installation, configuration, and integration, and a separate contract will be awarded for ongoing support, in accordance with the project design and specifications.
The Department plans, designs, constructs, operates, manages and maintains all County-owned facilities to ensure they are safe and accessible to residents and clients of County agencies, the general public, and County employees. The Department has a budget of approximately $200 million and is staffed with over 300 employees in five divisions: Administrative Services, Airports, Engineering and Resource Protection, Facility Services, and Road Services, supporting the 46 special districts governed by the Board of Supervisors and administered by the Department.
